Ugh this is not looking good.. Google is typically one of the most visible exhibitors at CES. GM dropped out today too. https://t.co/YC6qVssrWH

CES says the show will proceed in person despite the recent dropouts, which it said accounted for less than 7% of exhibitor space. https://t.co/rt0KwLhwNR https://t.co/U9SEDO7hMX pic.twitter.com/XuL1H7BWUu

Yesterday GM said it was still going to CES 2022 with Mary Barra as a keynote speaker and the Chevrolet Silverado EV to show off, but now it's pulling out of the in-person show. https://t.co/6X73l810cM

A lot of journos deciding not to go as well.

Going to be a lot of empty stands and hotel rooms in Vegas this January, and Mobile World Congress is probably going the same way. Even @shmoocon is getting some cancellations. https://t.co/1IZa4HSqrH
The speed of the fallout from Omicron is something to behold...Even 2 years into the pandemic. https://t.co/GucYGTYCED

Sony has begun canceling some in-person #CES appointments.
— Chris Welch (@chriswelch) December 24, 2021
If the company bails on going to Vegas, it would be the biggest blow to the unraveling show yet and add pressure for the CTA to cancel altogether.

Some CES thoughts: Media cancellations matter to a very specific slice of the show. It's a sizable slice, but it's nowhere near a majority. Cancellations from big tech matter more, but still ignore the massive number of smaller vendors who have been banking on CES happening.

With omicron surging, going to #CES2022 is not advised. @bajarin will attend, but even masked and booster-vaxed, it's too risky. Remember: CES 2020 was the first superspreader event.

I really feel for the CTA, it had no choice but to press on with #CES2022, but that doesn't make it an event I'd rush to attend.
— Andy Boxall (@AndyBoxall) December 22, 2021
Such a shame though. Like last year, I will miss being there, seeing everyone, and trying new tech.https://t.co/bMjbhrs78s
CES is far easier to cover from home via BusinessWire anyway ? https://t.co/aA74XoOUoA
