Re-launching the Galaxy Fold in September means that Samsung will be overshadowed by… Apple. Typically, Samsung’s major phones get the full spotlight in February and August. Now they’ll be up against the iPhone 11, for better for for worse with this particular model.

Samsung: “The top protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display has been extended beyond the bezel, making it apparent that it is an integral part of the display structure and not meant to be removed.” + “The top and bottom of the hinge area have been strengthened”

The contract expired on May 31st. T-Mobile in the US and a bunch of European T-Mobiles also decided not to sign new contracts. Didn't think T-Mobile in the US would, but I knew the European ones would. https://t.co/2tZuuH6OOS

One thing that hasn’t changed, @SamsungMobileUS confirms, is the price. It’s still $1,980.

I don’t know if anybody will buy the Galaxy Fold when it’s re-released, but I do know who won’t be selling it: T-Mobile, one of the two US carrier partners for the original one. (AT&T doesn’t have official comment yet.)

T-Mo knows when to walk away.https://t.co/zV5YjOKOQg

And knew when to run https://t.co/7UUEf0t2z7
Samsung says the Galaxy Fold’s problems have been fixed and it is going on sale, for real, in September after being indefinitely delayed in April due to severe issues with the screen, as covered here and elsewhere.
