Dang. So did YouTube Rewind get demonetized? https://t.co/osj6RYlZAg

I spoke to YouTubers like @KEEMSTAR and @Boogie2988 this week about the platform's recent child exploitation controversy

YouTube Is Once Again Forcing Its Creators To Clean Up Its Latest Disasterhttps://t.co/4jHQrtv9PW pic.twitter.com/TdGX73PDIP
BINGO: “The problem isn't really about YouTube, Facebook or any single company.
— David Carroll ? (@profcarroll) February 23, 2019
The problem is the entire business model around user-generated content, and the whack-a-mole game of trying to stay one step ahead of people who abuse it.”https://t.co/SwwqbpKJ6V
? NEW: YouTube says it will ban ads on channels that promote anti-vaccination videos after advertisers pulled their ads from themhttps://t.co/Ldk7Xfo8WI

YouTube is now officially demonetizing videos if the COMMENTS SECTION contains inappropriate content. Ahaha this is the beginning of the end. How easy it is now to wreck a YouTuber's career, just leave insults on their videos and THEY get punished for it! https://t.co/BpexlNjz6K
— Dan Bull ? (@itsDanBull) February 22, 2019
So now YouTube can punish creators by disabling the comment section & demonetizing videos if the comments aren’t ad friendly? if this is true, every youtuber needs to start looking for a new job. There are hardly any videos on youtube that lack vile comments. how is this fair? https://t.co/qOgWkwQ8Q6
— Colleen Ballinger? (@ColleenB123) February 22, 2019
This is not a solution @YTCreators. These creators are the victims here, so punishing them is totally insane. What YouTube is doing here is essential the same as when Iran punishes a women for something a man did to her. Seriously YouTube... what the frack??!? https://t.co/Lxl3eELTpr

(1/2) Hi there--for reference, over the past few days, we’ve taken a number of actions to better protect the YouTube community from content that endangers minors. Here is a tweet from @PhillyD for more context: https://t.co/pywO8uBfpL
— TeamYouTube (@TeamYouTube) February 22, 2019
(2/2) With regard to the actions that we've taken, even if your video is suitable for advertisers, inappropriate comments could result in your video receiving limited or no ads (yellow icon). Let us know if you have any questions.
— TeamYouTube (@TeamYouTube) February 22, 2019
So, let me get this straight My videos can be demonetized because random people comment on my video about things that are controversial? @TeamYouTube are you serious? So if someone wanted to put a channel out of business; they just need to go spam it with shill posts? #censorship https://t.co/t5Q35iCgCX
— JustInformed Talk (@JustInformU) February 24, 2019
to me. First of all, these videos are not actually inappropriate at all by themselves, so them showing ads is literally a non-issue. It’s the predators finding them and commenting on them that is the issue. Secondly, most of the videos shown didn’t even have ads anyway, (2/4)

This is an increasingly compelling reason to shut down the comments on my YouTube channel. Except YouTube treats comments as engagement. https://t.co/7oBjZ1kVAK
