In 1984, my father published his UNISTAT statistical software package for ZX Spectrum, allowing data scientists to bring their work home from the lab.

A decade later I got to meet the man who designed the Spectrum.
Your words and achievements inspired me. Farewell, Sir Clive. https://t.co/Ao16aKASfA pic.twitter.com/50JFPdlX5T

Wouldn’t have had a career without this guy. Horace Goes Skiing on the ZX Spectrum. The rest is history. Sadder news than getting an R Tape Loading Error after ten minutes. Rest In Peace, genius man. #CliveSinclair https://t.co/81AP0ydXu1

The article doesn't mention it, but in America Sinclair was responsible for the Timex Sinclair. It was a complete BASIC-capable computer for $100 US, in an age when the first IBM PC sold for $1500.

The Timex Sinclair was the first PC I ever owned.https://t.co/SOQ0qYvteM
Most remarkable thing about this is he left school and became a *journalist* to *raise money* to launch a *tech company* https://t.co/4X2oEPuSGF

Oh.. Clive Sinclair has died. https://t.co/5Q2PMGJY5g Strangely saddened- he shaped my world, in various ways. And my first programming job was in the King’s Parade offices in Cambridge that Sinclair had previously occupied. Farewell, Clive.

Very sad to hear of this. The Spectrum was a huge part of my formative years. So many hours playing Knightlore and JetPac. I even did my A level computers exam on a Spectrum, printing the code out on that silver toilet roll. https://t.co/KKBUCoA8wu

Sir Clive Sinclair was a brilliant mind, and a great meld of engineer and entrepreneur/inventor. As an entrepreneur/inventor he spotted needs and trends more than quarter of a century ‘before their time’. As an engineer he sought to accelerate them. RIP.https://t.co/DhSpqzbh31

Very sad to see this. Some of my best years were wiled away playing the amazing games on that rubber-keyed Spectrum (and, later, the 128k version). Thank you Sir Clive. https://t.co/1UsyCgmoWy

R.I.P. to Sir Clive Sinclair, the British personal computer pioneer who has died at 81. He changed my life because my first computer was a slightly modified $99 Sinclair sold in the U.S. by Timex. It led to my long career covering tech. https://t.co/KaNGv3D2gg

Sad news. Sir Clive Sinclair was way ahead of his time and maybe not the greatest businessman. If it weren't for the ZX81 and Spectrum 48K, I don't think I would have ended up writing about technology. RIP. https://t.co/PAU6D6b2eH

I got my first computer when I was 10, a Timex Sinclair 1000 (North-American ZX81), my parents were poor and at $99 CDN it was by far the most affordable computer at the time. Thank you Sir Clive for making computing accessible to millions of people, R.I.P. https://t.co/iBB9DQ9cPf
