Glad to see that it will still be possible to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware to see how it performs. If I run into problems, I can always fall back to Windows 10 which will still be supported until October 2025. https://t.co/5g48cZkw89

I think Microsoft's move to allow Windows 11 installs via ISO on older PCs is a good one, but it means consumers will think they need a new PC for Windows 11 when in reality they probably don't. The alternative is just sticking with Windows 10, which will be supported until 2025

BIG Windows 11 news. Microsoft won't stop you installing Windows 11 on PCs with older CPUs. You'll need to use an ISO, but it's a change that means millions of PCs won't be left behind. Full details here: https://t.co/COPbWYL5Ne pic.twitter.com/t51wqJzCAV

I'm going to stick with Win 10 & call it a day. My days of wrestling with operating systems is over as are my days of buying new PCs so I don't have to wrestle with operating systems. https://t.co/qBKvrHzBsO
Things are changing (a bit) on the Windows 11 processor requirements. @marypcbuk and I had a chat with Microsoft about it:https://t.co/pWDRLp3pP3

Microsoft adds more processors to the Windows 11 list - and explains that the list is based on what Windows telemetry shows about blue screens, app crashes and the general Windows experience on different CPUs https://t.co/2TbzOUbfDV

2. New PC Health Check app is coming very soon (Insiders get it first for feedback/testing) that gives much more detail about why your PC may not qualify for Windows 11 including how-to links on how to enable TPM if it is available (but not on):https://t.co/Y0pdwoFq9h

So basically the Windows 11 hardware requirements come down to support for modern DCH drivers and CPUs with 'MBEC' to support memory isolation. WHY didn't they just say that from the beginning? Fewer would be mad if they had given the actual reason...https://t.co/BEObCZO4Ms

Very good news. Looks like unofficially you WILL be able to install Windows 11 on older devices if you want, despite the "requirements", but you have to "install the OS manually" (I assume that means clean install).https://t.co/I8giHruR7m

Over at Ars, @AndrewWrites makes it sound like TPM 2.0 was just the easiest “marketing” to target when Microsoft actually wanted a different feature that chips supporting any type of TPM 2.0 would have.

But only if you completely install it from scratch. No updating Windows 10. You have to do a brand new Windows 11 install and then reinstall all your stuff.
