As much as I miss making games, I do not miss the culture of the industry as a woman in the least bit. AAA game studios can release and put up all the pro-inclusivity statements & banners they want but none of them are really walking the walk, it’s all lip service. UNIONIZE. https://t.co/7sZRP8IGnq

Some truly horrific allegations by the state of California against Activision Blizzard. AB issued a lengthy statement to IGN denying the allegations. https://t.co/KPa4s1Hcvq

Reading these I just feel sick and angry. It feels like being a decent human being is a lost art.

My heart goes out to all of the women who have had to deal with this anywhere in any industry let alone the one I consider a home.

This place sounds completely hellish. https://t.co/WY2K2Q961L

I've been reading through the court document and it truly is horrifying

Unfortunately we all know it's not the first time where this type of toxic culture has been prevalent within a games company, and it is yet another reminder of the work that needs to be done to root it out. https://t.co/KtnOXyUyys
"Do we want to work with women?"
— Rob Zacny (@RobZacny) July 22, 2021
"No."
"But do we want *access* to and *power over* women?"
"Oh yes."https://t.co/MNSxvEEqu9
I love how people act surprised lmfao. It's the fake shock for me https://t.co/DrL5OyJ3TJ

I left Blizzard after my boss gaslit me so badly my hair started falling out. My profit sharing, which I relied on to make ends meet, was docked due to “underperforming”, and when I went to HR to fight it with proof against his claims, I was told “maybe you are underperforming”

From the company who said that interviewing at least one diverse candidate per job role was “unworkable”.

Jesus Christ :( https://t.co/pWx0CC93al
I’ve worked for a video game company and several comic books companies. This sort of behavior is grotesque https://t.co/ztqp4o65El
— David Gallaher (@DavidGallaher) July 22, 2021
I can only say: my full support for my ex colleagues from Blizzard. The company claiming “ this is a surprise to us”, or “this is not the company of today “ is full of bovine excrement. I’ve seen these kind of behaviors and only low ranking people got called out by hr https://t.co/5d4nVqnOkB

Unfortunately this is a huge part of the gaming world. Not all, but many gaming companies and businesses including influencers themselves are sleazy and sexist towards women. Women are still often seen and treated as “below” men in this world and it’s horrible. https://t.co/tJnjjpLc8r
— Deligracy (@Deligracy) July 22, 2021
This is so disappointing and horrifying to read ?
— Zoe (@Litt1eR3d) July 22, 2021
Woman in our industry deserve better and the men engaging in this type of harassment should be removed from their positions and blacklisted. It’s disgusting. https://t.co/wrestmoA0a
“…male employees would play video games during work, engage in banter about their sexual encounters, talk openly about female bodies, and make numerous jokes about rape.”

The state of California is suing Activision Blizzard over allegations of sexual harassment and ‘frat boy culture.' Activision Blizzard responded to IGN with a lengthy statement saying California 'rushed to file an inaccurate complaint.' https://t.co/RXcw90oJhH pic.twitter.com/IO1GUhJuzp

I wish I couldn't believe the list of severe content warnings that come with this lawsuit on how women are treated at Activision-Blizzard, but in gamedev it remains not hard to believe at all. CW for: suicide, rape "jokes", sexual harassment. Do better.https://t.co/KfwNtohyfS

Activision has a habit of trying to push negative press away by doing huge announcements or revealing things about popular characters that make news
— MowtenDoo (@MowtenDoo) July 22, 2021
so be on the look out for some of that over the next few weeks https://t.co/HtW0SVMQ9C
The Activision-Blizzard news is abysmal, but not surprising.
— Nati ??Ⓥ (they/them) (@TheZombiUnicorn) July 22, 2021
Startin to make sense why Activision was "totally fine" hiring an infamous misogynist voice actor for CoD. Them cutting ties was just more performative activism after I called them out for... performative activism ? https://t.co/DY7BWP7fUv pic.twitter.com/J8PBgK69GC
Oh yeah, a really important thing: this isn’t some special new thing that happened because of the Activision/Blizzard merger. This is *Blizzard* culture. Don’t give Blizzard yet another pass just because it’s fun to dunk on Bobby Kotick.
— Terra Field ?️⚧️ (@RainofTerra) July 22, 2021
Former Activision employee here. These allegations don’t surprise me. I think the problems are worse depending on the location within ATVI. And the problems aren’t limited to this org. What industry-wide changes will come into effect now that Riot+Ubi+ATVI have seen lawsuits? https://t.co/JjLOcHLd64

TW: misogyny; harassment; mental health struggles.
— Luke Waltham (@lukewaltham) July 22, 2021
This is the nail in the coffin for me.
I will be joining the boycott against Blizzard Activision games until they make necessary changes and fire the trashy men who bullied and harassed women. https://t.co/WLH1DuIlIq https://t.co/owJuEUIXq2
Activision Blizzard's statement brands the officials suing them as "irresponsible" and "driving many of the State’s best businesses out of California."
— Alysia Judge (@AlysiaJudge) July 22, 2021
Totally defensive. Entirely remorseless. If that's the public response, imagine the internal one. https://t.co/luDqc0VNzW
“Call of Duty” maker Activision Blizzard is accused of fostering a “pervasive frat boy workplace culture,” that subjects women to harassment, abuse and lower pay, according to a lawsuit filed earlier this week by the state of California.https://t.co/sbgmssiS3A
