My interview with Marc Andreessen (@pmarca) is out!!https://t.co/P6sKlXK0xT

In this interview, I ask @pmarca ten questions about technology and society -- about automation, U.S. institutions, social media, competition from China, crypto, the future of the VC industry, and more!https://t.co/P6sKlXK0xT

"Software is our modern alchemy. Isaac Newton spent much of his life trying and failing to transmute a base element -- lead -- into a valuable material -- gold. Software is alchemy that turns bytes into actions by and on atoms." https://t.co/aVqtYeJgZS

Shopify is software that uses bytes to cause actions that cause atoms to appear in your home. https://t.co/7Yo1A2WJxS
Hadn't thought of this:

"Remote work worked under the extreme duress of a pandemic, with lockdowns and children unable to go to school and people being unable to see their friends and extended families. It will work even better out of COVID."https://t.co/dIvRmpD5Wo
This interview had some contradictions, but this was probably the most self-aware interview I've seen by a VC/tech person in a long time. https://t.co/F1hOwijjkM

Such a good interview. One of the many joys of working at the firm is learning from @pmarca. The second half of our weekly all-hands is largely an “Ask Marc questions about anything” session and it’s a highlight of my week. ?? https://t.co/eNB90mCZB2

My interviews are pretty much just "me trying to understand how a person thinks about the world". Judging by this standard, I think mine is the best Marc Andreessen interview ever!
— Noah Smith ? (@Noahpinion) June 22, 2021
But of course, I invented the standard... ;-)

As always, @pmarca does a great job outlining the priorities we should have, and the challenges we should be facing if we were our smarter selves. Nice interview by @Noahpinion https://t.co/M7OORCSEPy

Software has eaten the world and every company has to be good at software. The advantage incumbents have is distribution and race is whether they get software faster than startups can get distribution. From Tesla to Shein we’re seeing software beat existing distribution strength.

Software is our modern alchemy. Isaac Newton spent much of his life trying and failing to transmute a base element -- lead -- into a valuable material -- gold. Software is alchemy that turns bytes into actions by and on atoms. It’s the closest thing we have to magic. —@pmarca https://t.co/6xkax3Q7Mg pic.twitter.com/343w0AuEZO

Great interview with lots of great thoughts I agree with. Career advice to follow your passion is misdirected. Find something you’re good at that you can get paid for & contributes positively to the world. Being your passion is icing on the cake not goal.https://t.co/e2qC7xg4rG

"Don’t follow your passion. Your passion is likely more dumb and useless than anything else. Instead, at work, seek to contribute. Find the hottest, most vibrant part of the economy you can and figure out how you can contribute." https://t.co/MqSkqi5xJR

in this interview, billionaire venture capitalist Marc Andreessen essentially confirms that the Shock Doctrine is true and that COVID-19 is a great opportunity for CEOs to do things they could not have gotten away with before: https://t.co/Owj5iHnsbI pic.twitter.com/IrBh5jCgME

Pretty scary stat here.....as Marc Andreesen argues in this interview, you cannot build out a strong economy when these 3 areas of the economy are insanely expensive or out of reach.https://t.co/F3Szv6G9aP pic.twitter.com/ZaA8OV73mz

“A good test for how seriously an incumbent is taking software is the percent of the top 100 executives & managers with computer science degrees. For a typical tech startup, the answer might be 50-70%”—@pmarca https://t.co/69sl81oS2O

this is worth your time as a window into the Silicon Valley mindset (& alongside, the toxic/twisted side of the Gen X mindset). pay particular attention to where he claims to have enormous power (alchemy! ?) & where he claims to have zero power/interest https://t.co/okmb6HIftH

Shrewd point from @benthompson — the original, highly negative in tone, "It's Time to Build" eassy from @pmarca was much more viral than anything in Future including his new more optimistic take on tech and America.
