The iMac Pro was a stopgap computer and for that it was remarkably good. But Apple is about to finish crossing that gap.

RIP big guy, say hi and thanks for everything to the Trashcan Mac Pro when you get to heaven. https://t.co/TKeP1xxrZ6
Wow, the upcoming M1 iMac must be quite something. https://t.co/aYzND4yhLE

RIP to a real one. Also hope they drop the new Macs soon just so we can skip over the speculation of how they will be tiered https://t.co/98LDTdzehg

RIP iMac Pro. Apple has neglected this machine since 2017 when it released as it has 3 year old chips and the regular iMac has better features such as a Nano-textured displays and better chips. The iMac Pro was a in-between machine before the Mac Pro came out and took its place. https://t.co/xpO0Y1Xb6O

What does an iMac Pro even look like in the Apple M1 era? https://t.co/eZRqhZF7EF

Oh dang…

Is the Apple silicon iMac gonna be so powerful it replaces the iMac Pro? https://t.co/K8dXCOJvb5
Something is coming.

Apple discontinues iMac Pro, Apple Store says buy 'while supplies last' https://t.co/bQALeTRKwJ
This $5000 iMac Pro used a total power displacement of 140W to score 9385 on geekbench
— Noah Rosenberg (@nrose) March 6, 2021
The $700 M1 Mac Mini scores 7400 displacing only 10W
Now picture the Apple Silicon iMac that displaces 140W https://t.co/OIXhNsCLjP
RIP iMac Pro ??☠️

The iMac Pro was the very first Mac with a T2 security chip.
It was released as a replacement for the 2013 Mac Pro. Both desktops never received a hardware update.
Will the 2019 Mac Pro suffer the same fate? ? https://t.co/LCxogWRCY2
My iMac Pro has been the most stable, reliable computer I’ve ever owned. The cooling system is a masterpiece. It’s lasted me over three years and shows no signs of needing replacement.https://t.co/Z2fqOGVpXg

RIP iMac Pro ?

You were always meant to be temporary but you served us well https://t.co/M80g5hn3Ko
This is so weird. It just feels so un-Apple. https://t.co/OpW9B1IW9F

What’s kind of cool to think about in Apple’s discontinuing of the iMac Pro is that with impending 16+ core M1’s there may no longer need to be a “Pro” distinction with such a machine.
— Matt Galligan (@mg) March 6, 2021
The M1 is just that freaking powerful… https://t.co/6rmNR7Tkre
I have a 2012 iMac and I need an Apple Silicon iMac right now. Yay! https://t.co/VZNkGzrQ1z
— Sachin Agarwal (@agarwal) March 6, 2021
Finally, this was iMac “Pro” was the peak of Mac hardware hubris. Takes a lot of courage to release $5k+ disposable machines and never update them. https://t.co/kvZqlmNkk3

Looks like they’re finally killing off the iMac Pro ?
— Saran (@SaranByte) March 6, 2021
I highly doubt we’ll see an Apple Silicon version of it though since the iMac Pro was just a placeholder for the Mac Pro in the first place, so I’m assuming the higher-end iMacs will just replace it. https://t.co/1JeQSbsAcE
Well at least they are being honest. pic.twitter.com/0ZXiFuJ9ib

Wowza, can’t remember seeing ‘while supplies last’ before on the Apple Store https://t.co/tHQ2JX1pFY

The iMac Pro looks as though it’s been quietly ended by Apple. I expect we’ll find out what’s next for Mac desktops soon enough though.
