This shows how states can and do pass employment laws tougher than the federal government's. After Supreme Court ruled unanimously that federal law doesn't require Amazon pay for time waiting in security lines, lawsuits like this continued at state level https://t.co/Sas62kMvQb https://t.co/voqfXeV2Y2

This is standard in electronics retail across the country. Best Buy is notorious. All these companies are the real thieves. https://t.co/udlTbnpv0w

This is pretty huge, as wage-theft is rampant among Big Tech companies (esp Amazon)

Apple’s case will now return to the Ninth Circuit, which earlier held that Nike and Converse must face California workers’ class claims that they should be paid for time spent in post-shift bag checks. https://t.co/O5s5oWftxx

I am embarrassed that I did not know that Apple did not pay retail employees for the time they spend ensuring being searched. I am glad this is being repaired. https://t.co/7JQZzQaGTk

Last time I checked — admittedly this was a couple of years ago — not even NSA employees had to go mandatory bag searches as they left secure facilities. https://t.co/f9r4jNwZ4o

Oh, wow. Apple requires employees to have their belongings searched before they leave (to prevent theft), but it didn't want to pay employees for the time they had to wait to be searched, up to 45 minutes some days.

CA Supreme Ct. says: Gotta pay 'em. https://t.co/ghmNgBs8Gg
Apple. Has. Over. 200. Billion. That's a B. Of. Cash. Available. https://t.co/KxZlb4kIzP

This is Apple store workers. Wonder if workers in Apple headquarters also undergo daily searches. Seems like class discrimination. Engineers making $100k+ a year won’t steal, but the Apple genius making $? will? https://t.co/9eppLnVu9o

Note: Disneyland employees have to park offsite, shuttle in, get bags checked, change (and sometimes check out clothes), and cross the theme park to get to their job site. This time at the beginning and end of shifts is not paid. https://t.co/3f4VcaVXWO

Apple steals over eighty hours of work per retail employee per year by making them stay after they have clocked out to be searched before they go home.
— Hank Green (@hankgreen) February 14, 2020
Wage theft is a tax levied on workers by their bosses. @Apple, that's indefensible.

Apple has required its workers, after clocking out, to find a manager to search their bags, purses, backpacks & personal Apple devices—a process that can take up to 45 min. But refused to pay them for the time. https://t.co/e49mzf4jwl
— Margot Roosevelt (@margotroosevelt) February 15, 2020
They should give anyone that was working at Apple during that time money. I can remember several times waiting 5-10 mins to find a manager just to leave for the day. The longest being 15-20. https://t.co/avch3Nga1x
