Big test case for TikTok & censorship. The person who made the viral eyelash curling video that was actually about China's prison camps for Muslims was blocked from accessing TikTok on her device. But the video is still up: https://t.co/fa8mjsJ84x
— Sarah Frier (@sarahfrier) November 26, 2019
So what happened? Tiktok says she had a previous account that posted a video of Osama Bin Laden, which was against the rules so TikTok suspended her account and blocked the device associated with it, which is why she couldn't get in to this new account, which is still up.

Honestly, temporarily freezing her account while still allowing the video to circulate not only did little to stop the spread of the info but also provoked the user, a mistake a company so experienced in political censorship is unlikely to make. Thoughts? https://t.co/UyP9VPNIMA

I haven't (yet) seen the terrorism video so can't verify. Either way, the timing (that TikTok took action on someone who posted a video China wouldn't like) has raised Qs. "TikTok does not moderate content due to political sensitivities," spokeswoman says.

The situation of the Muslims in #China should also be highlighted:
